There is a great documentary just recently released on DVD, that deals directly with girls and the media called Miss Representation. You can find the trailer at http://vimeo.com/18985647. This is a very important film for all women and young girls to see, because it deals directly with the portrayal of women in the media and how it effects young girls. It is amazing to see how still women have to fight these overly sexual and degrading images of women that is being forced upon us by a patriarchal society. Join the fight to empower women.
